Beef Liver Fry Recipe | Karal Varuthathu

Beef Liver Fry / Karal Varuthathu / Nadan Liver Varattiyathu / Kerala Style Liver Roast / ബീഫ് ലിവർ (കരൾ) ഫ്രൈ is an absolutely delicious dish that can be served as a side dish and goes well with Plain Rice, Appam etc. Simple yet delicious, Beef Liver Fry is one of the quick & tasty recipes.

Liver is a healthy and nutrient dense food. It is a rich source of vitamin A, B, B12, iron, copper, folic acid etc. For people suffering from Anaemia, beef liver is a good option. Also it is a favourite choice of athletes, since it is very effective in combating fatigue.

Beef liver is rich in protein. It provides the essential amino acids required for body cell growth, repair and regeneration. It is absolutely a powerhouse of nutrition.

Ingredients

  • Beef Liver - 1/2 kg
  • Ginger Paste - 1/4 tsp
  • Garlic Paste - 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilly Powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Shallots - 1/2 cup (finely sliced)
  • Green Chilly - 3 nos (chopped)
  • Coconut Pieces - 10 pieces
  • Curry Leaves - a handful
  • Coconut Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Hot Water - 1/2 cup
  • Vinegar - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Cut the liver into small cubes.

Step 2

Take a bowl and add liver pieces, 1 tbsp of vinegar and soak it for 10 minutes. Clean and wash it with water and drain it.

Step 3

Heat coconut oil in a pan and add curry leaves, garlic paste, ginger paste and saute for 3 minutes. Now add the sliced shallots, green chillies and saute until it turns to translucent.

Step 4

Then add red chilly powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, coconut pieces and saute until the raw smell goes.

Step 5

Add liver pieces, 1/2 cup of water and salt into it. Then cover and cook on medium flame for 8 minutes or until all the water evaporates. Switch off the flame.

Step 6

Tasty Beef Liver Fry is ready.
