Beetroots are highly nutritious root vegetables and cardiovascular health booster. Beetroot  has high fibre content which have favourable effects on bowel function and helps in preventing constipation and help to lower cholesterol levels too. It also contains potassium, magnesium and iron as well as vitamins A, B6 and C, and folic acid.

Ingredients

  • Beetroot - 1 no ( grated )
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Condensed Milk - 1/4 cup
  • Sugar - 4tbsp
  • Ghee - 5 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Cashewnuts -10 nos
  • Raisins - 10 nos

Method

Step 1

Wash beetroot in water.

Step 2

Peel and clean the beetroot and grate it.

Step 3

In a presser cooker add 3 tbsp of ghee and grated beetroot. Cook for 10 minutes in a low flame.

Step 4

Now add milk and presser cook up to 2 whistles. Switch off the flame.

Step 5

Open the cooker and add sugar and cook again for 5 minutes. Now add the condensed milk and go on stirring till it leaves the sides of the pan.

Step 6

Add the cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 7

Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in another pan and roast cashew nuts and raisins in it.

Step 8

Garnish the halwa with toasted raisins and cashew nuts.

Step 9

Tasty Beetroot Halwa is ready to serve.
