Corn Vada is a crispy, crunchy and yummy snack. It is a kid friendly evening snack. It is best eaten warm when its crisp on the outside with a soft and chewy interior. Vada is a common term for many different types of savory fritter type snacks from South India with a set of common ingredients.

Corn is also a rich source of vitamins A, B, E and many minerals. Its high fiber content ensures that it plays a significant role in the prevention of digestive ailments like Constipation and Hemorrhoids. Corn not only provides the necessary calories for healthy, daily metabolism, but it is also a rich source of vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin E and many minerals. Ingredients

  • Sweet corn - 200 gm
  • Chana dal ( split bengal gram ) - 100 gm
  • Onion - 1 no ( chopped )
  • Ginger - 1 tbs ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 4 nos ( chopped )
  • Curry leaves - 2 stems ( chopped )
  • Coconut oil - 300 ml
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Clean the corn with water.

Step 2

Soak chana dal in water for 2 hours. Drain the chana dal.

Step 3

Grind the corn kernels, soaked and drained chana dal, green chilies, ginger and curry leaves to a coarse paste in a food processor or mixie.

Step 4

Transfer it into a bowl and add finely chopped onion, salt and mix well.

Step 5

Make equal sized ball out of it and flatten the balls a little bit by pressing them in-between the palms.

Step 6

Heat coconut oil in a pan and deep fry the corn vada until it's golden brown. Switch off the flame. Drain excess oil on a tissue paper.

Step 7

Tasty hot Corn Vada is ready to be served. Enjoy!
