Dry fish and raw banana with coconut gravy is a South Indian style curry which goes well with par-boiled rice.  It is a spicy recipe with typical South Indian curry flavor.

You can make this recipe very easily at home and it is a healthy recipe too. Here, I have used dry Sole fish for making this dish. You can can use any dry fish as you like.

Ingredients

  • 50 grams dry fish (I have used small sole fish)
  • 2 Raw banana cut into small thin cubes
  • 1 tbsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 3 Green chilli
  • 5 Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut gravy items:
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 5 Shallots
  • 3 pinch cumin seeds
  • For seasoning:
  • 2 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 5 Curry leaves

Method

Step 1

Cook dry fish and raw banana in water after mixing chilli powder, turmeric powder, green chilli and salt for taste.

Step 2

Meanwhile make coconut gravy by grinding grated coconut, shallots and cumin seeds.

Step 3

Once the dry fish and banana is well cooked, add coconut paste gravy to this and allow to boil for 5 minutes.

Step 4

After 5 minutes, sprinkle curry leaves and add coconut oil on top.

Step 5

Switch of the flame and serve hot with hot steamed rice.
