Fish Cutlet balls recipe is A.K.A Meen Cutlet balls – മീൻ കട്ട്ലറ്റ്. It is a spicy snack to have with a cup of hot tea. Cutlet can make with fish, vegetables, meat, egg, etc. It is used as a ‘nalumani palaharam’  or evening snack with a cup of hot tea in India especially in Kerala.

Fish contains lots of vitamins, minerals, calcium, iron, etc to maintain a good health. This is a healthy snack and very easy to prepare within minutes.

Ingredients

  • King fish pieces - 200 gm
  • Ginger - 1 piece (chopped)
  • Garlic - 5 cloves (chopped)
  • Onion - 2 nos (chopped)
  • Green chillies - 4 nos (chopped)
  • Kashmiri red chilly powder -1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Boiled and mashed Potatoes - 2nos
  • Bread Crumbs - 1 cup
  • Coriander leaves - 1 stalks (chopped)
  • Beaten egg - 2 nos
  • Vegetable oil - 3 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Curry leaves - few

Method

Step 1

Clean the fish pieces with water.

Step 2

Heat a pan and add fish pieces with salt and 1 cup of water. Cook for 5 minutes and remove all the fish bones.

Step 3

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a non stick pan, sauté chopped onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies and curry leaves for 5 minutes.

Step 4

Add chilly powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder and sauté for two minutes.

Step 5

Add garam masala powder, chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Add cooked fish and mix well.

Step 6

Add mashed potatoes mix well and remove from fire.

Step 7

Make small balls from the mixture like a lemon size and flatten with palm.

Step 8

Dip it in the beaten egg and then roll in the bread crumbs.

Step 9

Heat vegetable oil in a pan and fry the cutlet till golden brown. Drain the excess oil with a tissue paper.

Step 10

Tasty fish cutlet is ready.

Step 11

Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
