Grapes (Munthiri in malayalam) are fruiting berry of the deciduous woody vines of botanical genus. Grapes can be eaten row or they are used for making juice, jam, jelly and curry also. Grape wine is very delicious.

Grape is a good source of vitamin C and vitamin K. Pachadi refers to a traditional south Indian side dish. ย Pachadi is made of boiled vegetables with coconut, green chillies, cumin seed, mustard seed, coconut oil and curry leaves. Grape pachadi is a sweet tasty dish and it is easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • Red grapes - 1 cup
  • Curd - 1/2 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Cumin seed - 1/4 tsp
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 5 nos
  • Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
  • Dry red chillies - 3 nos
  • Coconut oil - 3 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves - 2 strings
  • Water - 3 tsp
  • Shallots - 3 nos

Method

Step 1

Grind grated coconut, green chilies, cumin seed, 1/4 mustard seed in a blender.

Step 2

Heat a pan add grapes, water and boil for 3 minutes.

Step 3

Add the coconut mixture, curd and salt. Mix well. Cook this for 4 minutes.

Step 4

Add sugar and cook for 2 more minutes. Take care not to over cook.

Step 5

For seasoning, heat coconut oil in a pan splutter mustard seed, add red chilies and curry leaves. Pour this in to the grapes. The dish is ready to serve.
