This is a very refreshing beverage in summer which specially prevents dehydration in the body.

I have used the basil seeds/ sabja seeds to make this Sharbat. These seeds are a natural laxative which helps to cure constipation that is caused by excess body heat during summer. The seeds look similar like black sesame seeds and are a bit smaller comparatively and you need to soak them in water. After 5 minutes you can see the seeds absorbing the water and become jelly like. Basil seeds gives a special taste to Kulki Lemon Sharbat and they are also good for digestion.

Ingredients

  • Lemon – 1
  • Chilled Water – 2 cups
  • Basil seeds (Sabja) – 1 tsp
  • Sugar - 3tsp
  • Soda - 1 cup
  • Honey - 1 tsp
  • Green chilly - 1 (chopped)

Method

Step 1

In a small bowl soak the basil (sabja) seeds in 1/2 cup of water and keep it for 10 – 15 minutes. You can see the seeds absorbing the water and become big in size while forming a white jelly like cocoon around it.

Step 2

Cut the lemon and squeeze the juice in a pitcher. Add sugar, honey, soaked basil seeds and chilled water and mix well.

Step 3

Take a glass and pour this mixture. Add green chilly, soda and mix well. Tasty Kulki Lemon Sharbat is ready.
