Muttayappam/ mutta pathiri or egg pathiri is a much loved snack among Kerala Muslim community. Muttayappam / mutta pathiri / egg pathiriย is prepared on special occasions such as Ramadan/Ramzan. It is very easy to make, takes approximately 10 minutes to prepare this delicious snack.

Ingredients are also less in number.

Ingredients

  • Egg - 2 nos.
  • All purpose flour/ Maida - 2 cups
  • Water - 1 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste - 1 pinch

Method

Step 1

Take a bowl and beat the eggs well with a spoon and mix with maida.

Step 2

Slowly add enough water and salt to make the batter.

Step 3

Heat a claypot (manchatti). (To prepare mutta pathiri here we are using a special kind of pan made up of mud, in malayalam 'manchatti'). Pour some batter in the center of the claypot/ manchatti and spread the batter with the back of a ladle to a thin round shape. Keep it covered and cook in medium flame for about 8 minutes.

Step 4

After 8 minutes take the muttayappam/ mutta pathiri out with a spoon. The tasty muttayappam/ mutta pathiri is ready to be served with coconut milk or chicken curry or mutton curry.
