Pavakka fry A.K.A Bitter gourd fry and it is one of the traditional side dish among India especially in Kerala. Bitter gourd or kaipakka  ( കയ്പ്പക്ക ) can used as fry, curry, juice, etc.

Bitter gourd is highly nutritious and it contains iron, calcium, vitamins, etc. It is a good source to low blood glucose in diabetics, reduce piles, strengthen the nerves of eyes, etc.

Pavakka fry recipe | Bitter Gourd fry – കയ്പ്പക്ക recipe

Ingredients

  • Pavakka - 2 nos
  • Green chillies - 5 nos (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Coconut oil - 3 tbsp

Method

Step 1

Wash pavakka properly with water. Cut pavakka into thin slices.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in a pan. When the oil gets hot, add the pavakka pieces, chopped green chillies, curry leaves and salt.

Step 3

Fry on a high flame for a minute and then lower the flame till the pavakka turns golden brown.

Step 4

Tasty pavakka fry is ready.

Step 5

Serve with hot rice.
