Pazham / Banana Varattiyathu – Banana Coconut Fry

Bananas can be eaten deep fried, baked or steamed. Bananas make excellent snacks for both adults and childrenPazham / banana varattiyathu is a simple sweet snack made with bananas. This is one of the popular snack of Kerala, South India.

Banana is the common name for herbaceous plants of the genus Musa and for the fruit they produce.  Bananas are an excellent source of vitamin B, soluble fiber and contain moderate amount of vitamin C, manganese and potassium and they are good for Kids.

Ingredients

  • Ripe banana - 3 nos
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Sugar - 4 tbspn
  • Ghee - 4 tbspn
  • Cardamom powder - a small pinch
  • Cashew nuts - 2 tbspn
  • Raisins - 1 tbsp

Method

Step 1

Cut the bananas into small pieces.

Step 2

Heat ghee in a pan add raisins, cashew nuts and grated coconut and fry for 3 minutes. Then add banana pieces and cardamom powder into it and fry for 5 minutes. Yummy pazham varattiyathu is ready to serve. Enjoy!!
