Prawn is most commonly used to describe a species of shell fish that is a part of lobster family. Prawns are the excellent source of vitamin E. Scientific name of Indian white  prawn is Penaeus Indicus. Prawn is highly priced and delicious food item.

Despite its high cholesterol content Prawn are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, B 12, zinc, iodine, phosphorous, potassium, iron etc.

This is one of the easiest recipe which you can make with white prawns. Prawn fry tastes heavenly when had with steamed rice.

Ingredients

  • White prawns - 250 gm
  • Kashmiri red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Kudampuli/ gambooge - 1 piece
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coconut oil - 4 tsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves - 2 string
  • Shallots - 5 nos (chopped)
  • Red chilly flakes - 1/2 tsp
  • Lemon juice - 1/4 tsp

Method

Step 1

Wash and clean the prawns.

Step 2

Heat a pan add prawn, ginger garlic paste, kashmiri red chilly powder, turmeric powder, water, gambooge, salt and cook for 8 minutes.

Step 3

Heat coconut oil in a pan add chopped shallots and saute for 2 minutes. Then add crushed red chilly flakes, curry leaves and add cooked prawn and fry for 5 minutes on low flame.

Step 4

Add pepper powder, lemon juice and garam masala powder to fried prawn. Mix well and turn off the flame. Serve hot with steamed rice.
