Prawn Roast Recipe

Prawn Roast Recipe is very easy to prepare and it taste awesome. It can be served as an appetizer or as an accompaniment to ghee rice. Prawn roast is a spicy seafood recipe popular among the people from the South Indian state called Kerala. You can enjoy it with some rice and curry and it almost takes no time to cook. This dish is spicy, stir fried with onions, ginger, garlic and finally topped with some fresh curry leaves.

Prawns are a rich source of selenium, one of the most effective antioxidants at maintaining healthy cells. They also contain high levels of Zinc, which is important to develop a healthy immune system. Eating prawns helps build strong bones because they contain phosphorous, copper and magnesium.

Ingredients

  • Prawns - 250 gm
  • Onion - 2 nos ( chopped )
  • Ginger - 1/2 inch piece ( chopped )
  • Garlic - 1/2 tsp ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 3 nos
  • Red chilly powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  • Kudampuli ( Gambooge ) - 1 piece
  • Coconut oil - 5 tsp
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Water - 50 ml
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

De-shell and de-vein the prawns and wash well with water.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in a pan and add chopped onion, ginger, garlic, green chilly, curry leaves and saute untill onion turns brown colour.

Step 3

Add red chilly powder, turmeric powder, Coriander powder, pepper powder and mix well.

Step 4

Add kudampuli, water and mix well. Add prawns and close the pan with a lid and cook the prawns for 10 minutes on a low flame.

Step 5

After 10 minutes open the lid and stir well. Cook the for 5 minutes on a low flame.

Step 6

Delicious prawns roast is ready,
