Lentils or otherwise called Daal is a staple ingredient in Indian food. The curries made of different kinds of Dal is a good combination with steamed rice, roti and all varieties of bread.

Dal is a ready source of proteins for a balanced diet and hence very nutritious for the entire family – starting from infants to elders of family.

Over and above, the recipe can be ready with in 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Daal - 200 grams
  • Water - 2 cup
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For seasoning:
  • Ghee or vegetable oil - 3 tbsp
  • Shallots chopped - 8
  • Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Dried Red Chilli - 1
  • Curry leaves - 8

Method

Step 1

Cook Daal in a pressure cooker with 2 cup water, turmeric powder and salt.

Step 2

Once Daal is cooked, prepare the seasoning. Heat oil in a wok and fry chopped shallots, dried red chill, chilli powder and curry leaves.

Step 3

Add seasoning to cooked Daal.Yummy Daal curry is ready to serve.
