Sweet Boondi recipe

Sweet Boondi is a tasty Indian snack used in special occasions like wedding party, birthday party, or festivals like Diwali, Eid, Christmas, Ganesh Chaturthi  etc.  This recipe have less ingredients and very easy to make at home. It is one of the favorite snack item for ten children. Boondi can used as an evening snack or nalumani palaharam  in India especially in Kerala.

It can be store in an air tight container for two weeks.

Ingredients

  • Gram Flour ( Besan ) Kadalai maavu - 200 g
  • Sugar - 600 g ( 3 cup )
  • Cardamom - 5 nos ( crushed )
  • Vegetable oil - 3 cup
  • Water - 2 cup

Method

Step 1

Take 200 g of gram flour and mix it well with 1/2 cup water. Keep on adding water to make a thin batter, but keep it mind that it should not be too thin.

Step 2

The batter should be lump free and should also drip drop by drop when kept on the perforated spoon. Whisk the batter for 5 minutes till it gets sticky.

Step 3

Keep the batter covered for 15 minutes.

Step 4

Meanwhile you can prepare sugar syrup to make sweet boondi.

Step 5

Put sugar in a pan and pour water half the quantity of sugar into it ( 1 & 1/2 cup water ) and keep it on a medium flame.

Step 6

Check the syrup by dropping a little on a plate and feel it between your forefinger and thumb. If it is sticky, the syrup is ready. Add crushed cardamom into the syrup.

Step 7

Now take a broad pan and heat some vegetable oil into it.

Step 8

Then hold the perforated spoon a little above the pan and pour 2 spoon of batter on the spoon. This batter will then drop into the pan in the form of small circular droplets.

Step 9

Stir the boondis in the pan with the spoon and fry them till they changes colour and crispy.

Step 10

Take them out of the pan with the help of a deep perforated spoon and drop them in the sugar syrup.

Step 11

Make as many boondis as you can with the batter and dip them into the syrup. Within few minutes the syrup will coat boondis making them smooth.

Step 12

Keep on turning the boondis in the syrup to mix with every boondi.

Step 13

Tasty Sweet Boondi is ready to eat.
