Easy Pressure Cooker Cake

Thari Pola / Semolina Cake / Thari Kums is a simple snack prepared with semolina, eggs etc. The advantage of this recipe is that, we can prepare it fast, with the simple ingredients available at home.

Thari pola is an easy Malabar snack prepared during Ramadan season. You can find out too many varieties of ‘pola’ preparation in Malabar, like mutta pola, kadalakka pola and ari pola.

Our semolina cake recipe is delicious and easy to make, yet uniquely impressive. Semolina cakes have a lovely texture that is distinctly different from cakes made with plain flour.

Ingredients

  • Semolina or Rava - 3/4cup
  • Egg - 3 nos
  • Sugar - 4 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  • Ghee - 3 tbsp
  • Cashew nuts - 5 nos
  • Raisins - 5 nos
  • Badam - 5 nos

Method

Step 1

In a pan dry roast the semolina for 4 minutes on low flame and keep it aside.

Step 2

Mix egg, sugar and cardamom powder in a separate bowl. Beat with mixer until it is fluffy.

Step 3

Carefully add fried semolina and 2 tsp of ghee to the egg mixture and mix it well.

Step 4

Heat a pressure cooker at low flame and add 1 tsp of ghee to it.

Step 5

Pour semolina-egg mixture into it and close the lid (don’t put weight on lid)

Step 6

After 3 minutes open the lid and add dry fruits on top of it and close the lid.

Step 7

Keep this on low flame until steam comes out through the nozzle. After 3 minutes switch of the flame.

Step 8
