Trivandrumย chicken fry is a popular chicken dish. Basically,ย Kerala chicken fry (Nadan Kozhi Porichathu) is one of the main dish in Kerala non-vegetarian category. This spicy recipe is simple and easy to make. You should use coconut oil for frying chicken to get the actual Kerala chicken fry taste.

This special dish can be serve with hot rice, chapati, appam, bread etc. Consuming chicken with the meal is good for the growth of strong bones and muscles.

Ingredients

  • Chicken - 500 gm ( cut into pieces )
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Kashmiri chilly powder - 2 tbsp
  • Garam masala - 1 tsp
  • Lime juice - 2 tbsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tbsp ( crushed )
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Coconut oil - 1 cup ( for frying )
  • All purpose flour - 2 tbsp
  • Red chilly flakes - 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Clean and wash the chicken. Put slits in the chicken pieces.

Step 2

Marinate chicken pieces with kashmiri chilly powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic-paste, garam masala, lime juice and salt. Keep it in the refrigerator at least 1 hour.

Step 3

Take the chicken from the fridge and sprinkle the all purpose flour, curry leaves, fennel seeds and red chilly flakes on the marinated chicken and keep it aside for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Heat a deep pan with coconut oil and deep fry the chicken pieces till it gets a good brown colour.

Step 5

Tasty Trivandrum Chicken Fry is ready.
