Unakka Meen Peera Vattichadhu (dry fish with coconut paste) or Netholi peera vattichadhu is a Kerala style easy recipe.

Ingredients

  • Dry fish - 100 grams
  • Shallots - 5 nos
  • Grated fresh coconut - 6 spoon
  • Green Chilli - 4 nos
  • Tamarind - 1/4 tbsp
  • Curry leaves
  • Red Chilli flakes - 1 tbsp
  • Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Slightly grind shallots, coconut, tamarind and green Chilli.

Step 2

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan and saute coconut paste for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Add cleaned dry fish along with 4 spoon water to the sauteed coconut paste.

Step 4

Mix well and allow the water to evaporate, so that all the coconut paste stick on fish.

Step 5

Add red Chilli flakes followed by curry leaves to fish. Adjust salt. Stir for 1 minute and switch off the flame.

Step 6

For garnishing add coconut oil stir well and serve with steamed matta rice (Kerala palakkadan matta rice).
