Unniyappam is a delicious traditional Kerala snack. It is a popular snack in India during some festivals like Onam, Eid, Christmas etc. In malayalam language, ‘unni’ means small and ‘appam’ means small rice cake.
It can be used a teatime snack or nalumani palaharam. By serving this unniappam in special get together functions makes the guests, friends and other family members makes a wonderful feeling with hot tea or coffee.

Ingredients
Heat a pan then melt the jaggery with water till it becomes syrupy. Drain the jaggery syrup into a bowl using a strainer. Again heat the pan then fry the sesame seeds and coconut pieces with 1 tsp of ghee till it turns golden brown. Keep aside. Mash the bananas with a spoon. Keep aside To make the batter, take a bowl then add rice flour, wheat flour, mashed banana, melted jaggery, fried coconut pieces, sesame seeds, cardamom powder and baking soda. Mix well with a spoon. The thickness of the batter should me like idly batter consistency. Keep aside the batter for 40 minutes. Heat the unniyappam mould, fill the cups ( inside the mould is round like cup ) with 3/4th of coconut oil. When the oil is getting hot, reduce into a medium flame. Pour the batter into the mould using a ladle. Keep turning the unniyappams in between, till you get a golden-dark brown colour on both sides. When it is cooked, remove from oil and drain excess oil on tissue paper. Set aside. Tasty unniyappam is ready. Serve with hot tea or coffee.Method
