Rava / Sooji (Semolina) Upma Recipe is one of the favorite breakfast item in south India. Very tasty, very light, very healthy and very simple and easy to cook.

Ingredients
- Semolina(Rava) - 2 cups
- Onion(medium) - 1 nos chopped
- Green Chillies - 3 - 4 nos chopped
- Ginger - 1/2 inch long chopped
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - A few
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Ghee - 2 tsp
- Water - 1 glass per 1 cup Semolina(Rava)
Method
Step 1
First boil water.
Step 2
Meanwhile heat ghee and splutter mustard seeds followed by adding ginger. Fry ginger.
Step 3
Add onions, green chilli and curry leaves to this and sauté till onion become translucent.
Step 4
Then add Rava and fry till Rava is light brown.
Step 5
To fried Rava add boiling water and mix well. Add salt to taste and close the pot with a lid.
Step 6
Reduce fire to low flame and allow the Rava mixture to cook in low flame until all the water is evaporated, Rava is cooked well, soft and thick. Switch of the flame.
Step 7
Stir all together well once more and garnish with 1 spoon of fresh ghee and 4 curry leaves to add nice upma flavoring smell.
Step 8
Serve hot with coconut chutney or only sugar or chana masala or small banana and Papad.
