Dragon Chicken is a yummy Chinese starter recipe. It tastes irresistibly good and looks very appealing due to its bright red colour. Try out this simple tasty chicken dish that goes well with Plain Rice, Fried Rice etc.

Chicken in almost any form is great for your health. It is a great source of lean and low fat protein. It is quite interesting to know that chicken can prevent Osteoporosis or Arthritis during senior years. Chicken is also rich in phosphorus which helps to maintain strong teeth and bones.

Ingredients

  • Boneless Chicken - 250 grams ( cut into thin strips )
  • Onion - 1 no
  • Dry Red Chilly - 3 nos
  • Cashew Nuts - 8 nos
  • Capsicum - 1 no ( sliced thinly )
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • Red Chilly Paste - 1 tsp
  • Dark Soya Sauce - 1 tsp
  • Tomato Ketchup - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • All Purpose Flour - 4 tbsp
  • Corn Flour - 3 tbsp
  • Egg - 1 no
  • Pepper Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable Oil - 1 cup

Method

Step 1

Clean and cut the chicken into thin strips.

Step 2

Take a bowl and add 1/2 tsp of dark soya sauce, 1/2 tsp of red chilly paste, all purpose flour, corn flour, 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste, pepper powder, egg, chicken pieces and salt. Mix well and keep aside for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Heat vegetable oil in a pan and fry the marinated chicken strips until golden brown and crispy. Switch off the flame. Drain the excess oil with a tissue paper.

Step 4

Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a frying pan. Add dry red chilly and cashew nuts and fry till the cashew nuts turn golden brown.

Step 5

Add onion and capsicum into it and toss well in the oil. Add 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste to it and saute for another 2 minutes.

Step 6

Add 1/2 tsp of red chilly paste, 1/2 tsp of soya sauce, tomato ketchup, salt and sugar into it and mix well. Cook this for 4 minutes.

Step 7

Add fried chicken pieces into it and cook for 3 minutes. Switch off the flame.

Step 8

Tasty Dragon Chicken is ready.
