Mutta Kizhi Recipe / Quick Snack

Mutta Kizhi is an easy and simple snack. An amazing snack which is made in the shape of small pouches. It is stuffed with egg and fried to make an appetizing starter or snack.

Eggs contain all the daily vitamins and minerals that are needed to produce energy in all the cells of the body. They are a super health food and can be prepared in many interesting ways.

Ingredients

  • For Dough: - Maida - 1 1/2 cup ( 200 gm )
  • Lukewarm water - 1/2 cup ( 100 ml )
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Masala: - Onion - 2 nos ( chopped )
  • Green chilly - 2 nos ( chopped )
  • Garlic - 3 cloves ( chopped )
  • Shallots - 4 nos ( chopped )
  • Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Egg - 2 nos
  • Curry leaves - as required
  • Vegetable oil - 2 cup ( 200 ml )
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1

Boil the eggs and slice it into 2 pieces. Keep it aside.

Step 2

Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan and saute the onion in it, till it turns light brown in colour. Add chopped ginger, garlic, green chilly, shallots into it and cook for 3 minute on a low flame.

Step 3

Then add the chilly powder, turmeric powder, salt, curry leaves into it and cook for 2 minutes.

Step 4

Then add the sliced egg to it and mix all the ingredients well. Switch off flame and keep it aside.

Step 5

Take a bowl and add all purpose flour, salt, oil, lukewarm water and knead well to make a soft dough. By using this dough, make small sized balls ( lemon sized ).

Step 6

Roll this balls in the shape of chapati. Then take any glass of round corners and press it on the pressed dough to make many small circles.

Step 7

Take 2 teaspoon of the egg masala and fill the circles with it and bring the corners of the circle together and press it so that the kizhi doesn’t break while frying it.

Step 8

Heat oil in a frying pan and deep fry the kizhi in it, till it turns light brown in colour.

Step 9

Place them on a tissue paper to drain excess oil.

Step 10

Tasty Mutta Kizhi is ready.

Step 11

Serve it as an evening snack.
