Sweet Mini Appam Recipe
Here is a simple-to-do snack recipe from my kitchen. Sweet mini appams are small round shaped steamed sweet rice cakes. This moreover looks like small vattayappam but it tastes different.
Thisย is an easy tea time snack/ nallu mani pallaharam which you can enjoy with hot tea. This is my mother’s idea which she actually derived out of the traditional vattayappam. She always discover some shortcuts to make easy tea time snacks for us.
This is also good for kids as it is steam cooked.
Ingredients
- Rice Flour - 1 Cup
- Yeast - a pinch
- Sugar - 7 to 8 tbspn
- Salt to taste
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Cashew nuts - 1/2 tspn
- Raisins - 1/2 tspn
Method
Step 1
Mix Rice flour, yeast, sugar, water and salt in a bowl and keep aside for half an hour.
Step 2
After half an hour batter will be well fermented and the appams are ready to be cooked.
Step 3
We can cook these appam in the idli chembu/ appachembu/ steamer. Grease each moulds of the steamer with oil and fill each of them with 3/4th full of batter. Place some raisins and nuts each on top. Close the steamer lid. Steam cook for 15 minutes until done. Remove from fire and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Use a big spoon to remove the appam. Tasty and Healthy Sweet mini appam are ready to serve!
