Parippu Vada Recipe – Lentil Fritters

Parippu Vada or Lentil Fritters is one of the favorite evening tea time snack in kerala. Parippu Vada is a crispy, crunchy and yummy snack. Parippu Vada is one of the popular evening snacks in South India. Parippu Vada with a cup of hot black tea in the evening makes it a yummy snack.

Ingredients

  • Chana dal (split bengal gram) - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1 (chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tbs (chopped)
  • Green chillies - 3 nos (chopped)
  • Curry leaves - 2 stems (chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut oil - 3 cup

Method

Step 1

Soak chana dal in water for 2 hours. Drain the chana dal.

Step 2

Make a coarse paste of dal in a food processor or mixie. The dal should be crushed and should not be made into a smooth paste.

Step 3

Transfer it into a bowl and add finely chopped onion, green chillies, curry leaves, salt and mix well.

Step 4

Make equal sized ball out of it and flatten the balls a little bit by pressing them in-between the palms.

Step 5

Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the parippu vada until it's golden brown. Drain excess oil on a tissue paper.

Step 6

Tasty hot parippu vada is ready to be served. Enjoy!!!
