Banana Toffee Recipe – Chinese Toffee – Banana Recipe
Banana Toffee is a classic Chinese dessert. Slices of banana are battered and deep-fried, then coated in toffee and sesame seeds making them deliciously crisp.
You could also try this recipe with other fruit, such as Apple or Pineapple. This is a really delicious dessert with the flavours and warmth of caramel and banana, goes well with the cold ice-cream.
Bananas are a great energy-booster. Green bananas also promote weight loss. They are one of the best sources of resistant starch. Instead of being digested, it functions like a soluble fiber and feeds the friendly bacteria in your intestines, promoting better digestion.
- Ripe bananas ( robusta ) - 2 nos
- Sugar - 100 gm
- Water - 50 ml
- Maida - 100 gm
- Cornflour - 40 gm
- White sesame seeds - 2 tbsp
- Vegetable oil - 300 ml ( frying )
- Salt to taste
Peel and cut the banana into round slices.
Take a bowl and add maida, corn flour, salt and mix it nicely by adding enough water to get a thick batter with a dropping consistency.
Heat vegetable oil in a pan for deep frying.
Dip bananas in the batter and deep fry it in hot oil. Cook till it turns golden and drain using a paper towel.
To make the caramel sauce, take sugar and water in a non stick pan and heat it up. Remove from the heat and add the fried banana to the caramel and coat it on all sides.
Fill a large bowl with ice water and ice cubes. Immediately drop the caramel coated bananas into the cold water.
Remove that to a plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Yummy Banana Toffee is ready.
