Kerala Style Mutton Soup Recipe – കേരള മട്ടൻ സൂപ്പ് – Healthy Recipe

Mutton soup is usually prepared with mutton bone pieces preferably, mutton leg bones. It is very easy to prepare as we are adding all ingredients at the same time in the cooker. 

As mutton needs time to cook, we have to pressure cook it. Strain the soup and serve.

You can also add fried shallots, coriander leaves or pepper powder for garnishing the soup.

Ingredients

  • Mutton bone pieces (leg) - 200 gm
  • Shallots - 10 nos (chopped)
  • Black pepper (whole) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 3 sprigs
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 5 cups

Method

Step 1

Clean and wash the bones well with water.

Step 2

Add mutton bone pieces, black pepper, fennel seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, curry leaves, black pepper powder, ginger garlic paste and water in a pressure cooker and cook on a medium flame. After one whistle, cook for about 30 minutes on a very low flame. Switch off the flame.

Step 3

Open the lid after the pressure settles. Smash well with a spoon. Strain the soup using a strainer and serve.

Step 4

Tasty Kerala Style Mutton Soup is ready.
